Hi there australians,
I am a brazilian 25 year old girl, I graduated in architecture but what i always wanted to be was an artist so i am planning to do a Fine Arts University in Australia…because i always dreamed about living in Australia…
I heard about University of Melbourne, Swinburne,Rmit don“t know which one will be best for me, if anyone study arts in this schools i would like to know about it.
Thanks
The best Arts university is The Victorian College of the Arts. They feature all kinds of arts, such as dance, drama, music, film and tv, and fine arts. You can do your major in painting, printmaking, photography, drawing or sculpture. Its a wonderful atmosphere learning with other creatives. Its location is in the heart of Melbourne in the arts district, with The National Gallery of Victoria on one side and the Aust Centre for Contemporary Arts on the other side. I went there myself and majored in painting… and loved it… I wish I was back there! It is affiliated with Melbourne Univesity. Check out their address. Good luck!

All right. I’m a script writer and I’m about to write a script here in the near future that’s based in Sydney, Melbourne and the west coast in Australia. But I need a question answered first:
Music. Is Christina Aguilera big down there like America? PARTICULARLY her new CD "Back to Basics"? And Is Hard-Rock and Heavy-Metal big down there too? Like Marilyn Manson and the HEAVY-METAL artists?
Anyway, if you could answer as thorough as possible that would be absolutely and UTTERLY awesome! Thank you!
Australia likes the same music as the rest of the world. We have some of our own home grown talent such as ACDC, Delta Goodrem, The Veronicas, Rogue Traders.
Christina Aguilera has had her time in Australia, she may be popular amongest your tweens but not in general. Marilyn Manson is popular amongst the metal fans. The most popular genre would probably be punk rock.

Know any DJ’s or artists with good music so I can dance the Melbourne Shuffle in beat?
(I’m new at it and I really need good music xD I want to dance it in school and see what happens)
Send me some youtube links of some of the music please?
Thanks <3
Try anything by The Presets or Hook N Sling. They’re both Melbourne DJ’s I think
In a good price range and the artist is good also.
I’m getting mine done at Body Mods in Melton. I know it’s a fair way out but the guys there (Paul, Carl and Dan NOT THE OLD GUY) are amazing. I’ve had quite a few piercings done and they were the cheapest, most professional and were least painful. I’ve seen some awesome desgins done by them.
In northcote/brunswick there’s a place that everyone goes to on st george’s rd. I think it’s called an eternal instinct. lots of people go there because thats where pink had her massive leg dragon done (so I am told). However I’ve heard they charge a bit more than other places.
I find talking to friends, customers, people in the street helps. Just ask them where they got their tatt and whether they were happy with the experience/end result.
Good luck!
I used to live in South Yarr, Melbourne and there was a gallery on Toorak road which exhibited Australian artists work. I saw a beautiful but simple painting of a blue sky with one white fluffy cloud in the top centre of the painting and at the foot of the painting, in the centre, is a girl sitting pointing up at the cloud. You see the girl from the back and she has a long black plait in her hair down the back of her white dress (I think white). I would love to know who it was by and where I could get a print of it. Any help????????
Yes – I know I should have enquired at the gallery but we have returned to the UK now and the painting haunts me when I am depressed and it makes me feel all warm n happy inside.

Another year goes by. Freaky.
It’s been an almost unbelievable year for me, here’s hoping 2008 is a great year for everyone.
BTW, the t-shirt is a Christmas present, probably my favourite one. And this video was shot around the St Kilda Road tram junction. You can see about one quarter of the street art that surrounds this area. There’s some good graffiti artists around Melbourne and this is just a small sample of their work.
